Montgomery County Christmas Store

Find the Playlist for Volunteer Jobs (all four videos) in one spot and watch it on YouTube.

General  Volunteer

Even if you have volunteered in the past, each volunteer needs to watch the  General  Volunteer video.

We modify our process each year as needed. We have also moved departments around based on storage needs and to eliminate traffic jams!

Shopper Assistant

For Shopper Assistant volunteers especially, the video is essential to watch.

Even if you have worked at the store for several years, we have included special requests from the departments on what they need or do not need when you show up. Also, we won't have enough time to train when you come to work.

Bag Carts

The number of carts prepared at a time, and the process of when and where the carts go is important so we don't run out of carts. The number of bags per shopper is also part of this role, and attaching the labels with family names on the bags is critical. Without enough bags, the departments have to stop everything, run to get more bags, and then we have a backup. PLEASE WATCH THIS VIDEO EVEN IF YOU HAVE DONE THIS JOB BEFORE.

Greeter

We've added this job, and you will need to watch the video to learn where to direct people. Eligibility has a different team this year and has specific spots for the greeter to direct people to.

Many thanks, and lots of holiday cheers for volunteering!

Help Us Treat the Montgomery County Christmas Store Volunteers!

The Montgomery County Christmas Store relies on the many volunteers who help us each year during the Christmas Store Week. We love to offer the volunteers fresh and homemade items to enjoy during their volunteer shift. We hope you will help us by signing up to drop off an item from our requested list. If you are also volunteering for a shift, consider signing up for an item and dropping it off when you arrive for your shift! The store is located at 30 West Main Street in Christiansburg. Thank you in advance for considering helping in this way! Our many volunteers thank you too!

Try it, you’ll like it! Volunteering is a great way to meet like minded people

In addition to Store Week volunteering, we are trying something new…

When you are working at the store and don’t see the sign-in/sign-out sheet,

IN BOTH SMALL & LARGE WAYS

YOUR HELP MATTERS

Thank you all for volunteering

a private group on Facebook is now available to start connecting volunteers to store needs during NON-Store Week times.

There is not a list of assignments at this time, but getting to know one another (the other 51 weeks of the year) will be engaging and fun! Make sure to answer the screening questions when asking to join.

you’d like to serve, we’d Love to have you!

The Montgomery County Christmas store uses Signup Genius for our hours during December to cover the store when we open for shopping. Each year a calendar is created based on our needs and in consideration of safety guidelines.

Volunteer Policy

Since the Christmas Store does not have meaningful tasks or supervisory staff for children, we are unable to accommodate children younger than high school age as volunteers. Groups are welcome to deliver projects they have made or collected by coordinating a time with us ahead of delivery.

The Christmas Store apologizes for any inconvenience our policy creates.
